What Mouse Does dafran Use?

dafran's mouse history

The history covers 5 periods, 4 switches and 5 different models since September 2022. He has not gone back to any earlier model.

The ZOWIE EC2-DW Black is the longest period at 16.3 months (1.4 years), and it is still running. The ZOWIE EC2-CW before it lasted 13.8 months (1.2 years), and the Pulsar Xlite V2 Wireless 11.8 months.

The outlier is the VAXEE E1 Wireless Black in June 2025. It lasted about 6 days, the shortest period by a wide margin. The ZOWIE EC2-A at the start of the list ran for 7.2 months.

Mousepad

He has used the ZOWIE G-SR-SE Gris since November 2023, which is 35.3 months. That is longer than any single mouse in his history.

Before it came the Logitech G640 Original (7.2 months), the SteelSeries QcK+ (6.0 months) and the ZOWIE G-SR-SE Blue, which lasted 0.9 months. The Gris was the pad he stayed with after that short Blue stint.

On the numbers, this is a firm-foam cloth pad with medium overall glide. Static friction is high and dynamic friction is low. The pad takes a bit more force to start a movement, then glides freely once the mouse is moving. At 3.5 mm thick with unstitched edges, it is a fairly standard-profile pad.

His Nightbot !mousepad command, last edited in August 2026, lists the ZOWIE G-SR-SE Blue II, from the same G-SR-SE line.

Mouse settings

His Marvel Rivals settings sit at 1600 DPI with the mouse polled at 1000 Hz. The EC2-DW Black can be set as high as 4000 Hz, so 1000 Hz is a choice within its range.

Overwatch uses the same 1600 DPI and works out to 40.7 cm/360. VALORANT runs a much lower 400 DPI but lands at 40.8 cm/360. The DPI values differ by a factor of four, yet the physical distance for a full turn is almost identical in the two games.

Windows sensitivity is 6 in the games where it is listed.

Should you buy dafran's mouse?

The ZOWIE EC2-DW Black is a wireless ergonomic mouse at 60 g, 12.3 cm long, 6.5 cm wide and 4.2 cm tall. It suits players who want a right-hand-shaped mouse of moderate height without going heavy. Its PAW3950 sensor supports polling up to 4000 Hz.

The alternatives trade off in small steps:

• Lamzu Thorn V2: 5 g lighter, 0.1 cm longer, 0.1 cm wider, same height. It polls up to 8000 Hz and uses optical switches.
• Pulsar Xlite V4 Es Medium: 5 g heavier, 0.1 cm shorter, 0.1 cm wider, 0.1 cm taller. It polls up to 8000 Hz, uses optical switches and has an 86 g button force.
• Razer DeathAdder V3 HyperSpeed: 5 g lighter, 0.1 cm shorter, 0.1 cm narrower, 0.1 cm lower. It tops out at 1000 Hz polling, has Razer Optical switches and a 66 g button force.

All three share the wireless, ergonomic layout. The choice comes down to weight, a slightly different footprint and the polling ceiling.
